Gilbert Stuart Park is a pocket park that was the former studio of Gilbert Stuart, the artist who painted George Washington's portrait on the dollar bill. Today the park features spring bulbs, crape myrtle and a variety of mature trees. Located on Germantown Avenue, this park can be reached by the 23 bus. Join the Parks & Rec Stewardship Team to help remove disruptive weeds and vines at Gilbert Stuart Park. A small, dedicated group can make a big impact at this site!

Every 2nd Sunday at 2 pm, volunteer Larry Szmulowicz does birding and leads volunteers in cleaning up Cobbs Creek Park along the creek path starting at 61st St & Baltimore Ave. Trash removal from trail, creek, and surrounding woods preserves this area for all to enjoy and prevents trash from traveling elsewhere in the watershed area. All tools and materials will be provided, including work gloves. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Regarding Covid safety protocols, the large area will facilitate distancing. Cliveden Park is a treasure in east Germantown. It's rolling hills and majestic trees are a haven for neighbors, birds, and wildlife. A historic house sits on the western side of the park and is used to this day for community events and elections. It is a 10 minute walk from the Washington Lane SEPTA station, and can be reached by 18 bus route along Chew Avenue and XH bus nearby on Washington Lane. Join the Parks & Rec Stewardship Team to help remove disruptive weeds and vines along a hillside and near the green stormwater infrastructure onsite.

Help preserve the forests of Cobbs Creek Park. Join Philadelphia Parks & Recreation for a restoration project to remove invasive vines and shrubs. Project leaders will be on site to guide the work. All tools and materials will be provided, including work gloves (though you're welcome to bring your own). Please note, restrooms are not available and volunteers should bring plenty of water for themselves. This event will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain or thunder!
