About
Love Your Park
Love Your Park is a collaboration between Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, and Philadelphia's Park Friends Network. We work together to support communities in activating Philly's neighborhood parks and watershed natural areas, with a special focus on inviting Philadelphians to get involved by volunteering. Our flagship events are Love Your Park Week in May and the Love Your Park Fall Weekend in November, when over 5,000 volunteers come out to show Philly's parks some love. Our year-round Neighborhood Park Stewardship program supports a network of 140 community-run park friends groups, and our regular volunteer opportunities invite groups and individuals to get involved.
ImpactThe impact of Philly’s park volunteers is enormous. In 2019 alone, we organized 279 volunteer events and engaged 6,792 volunteers who contributed 19,723 hours of service. We planted 685 trees, weeded and mulched over 800 existing trees, removed several tons of trash from our parks and waterways, and collected thousands of bags of organic plant debris (like branches and leaves) for composting.
Beyond keeping our parks clean and green, many park friends groups have reclaimed their local parks as positive spaces in their neighborhoods through years of hard work, dedication, and collaboration. Learn more about the work of some of Philly's amazing park friends groups here.
History
Love Your Park launched as a partnership between Fairmount Park Conservancy and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation in 2012. Our work builds on decades of grassroots advocacy and organizing by individual neighbors and communities, as well as nearly thirty years of programming through the former Fairmount Park Commission, the former Philadelphia Recreation Department, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Today, Love Your Park supports a network of 140 parks and community gardens across Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) advances the prosperity of the city and the progress of her people through intentional and sustained stewardship of nearly 10,200 acres of public land and waterways as well as through hundreds of safe, stimulating recreation, environmental and cultural centers. PPR promotes the well-being and growth of the city’s residents by connecting them to the natural world around them, to each other and to fun, physical and social opportunities. PPR is responsible for the upkeep of historically significant Philadelphia events and specialty venues, and works collaboratively with communities and organizations in leading capital projects and the introduction of inventive programming.
