A hotel and restaurant brand that is part of the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) hotel company. Founded in 1981 by William (Bill) Kimpton and led by Chief Executive Officer Mike DeFrino, the group was the largest chain of boutique hotels in the United States in 2011. The Kimpton Group currently operates 65 hotels, and the group's headquarters are in San Francisco, California. All Kimpton properties are located in the United States, with the exception of the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; and the Kimpton De Witt in Amsterdam. New hotels have been announced for Toronto, Paris, Grenada, Bali, Shanghai, Sanya, and Taipei.
