You are cordially invited to attend a habitat restoration event at Little Whitby Meadow. The purpose of the event is to support the Whitby Meadows Ecological Restoration project, which is being headed up by Audubon Mid-Atlantic. We will focus on: - Planting a NEW native plant garden (where an opaque tarp has been installed for the past five months) to help re-establish a healthy meadow ecosystem. - Installing a "3D" deer fence (non-electrified) around the garden. - Watering the newly planted plants - Removing invasive Wild Hops around a large cluster of Common Milkweed before the Hops take over! Where? We will meet at the entrance gate to Little Whitby Meadow. You will find a "Cobbs Creek Park Ambassador" yard sign up at the gate. - If you are coming from Philadelphia, go to the intersection of Cobbs Creek Pkwy and Whitby Ave. Walk west on Whitby Ave. towards Yeadon. Walk on the south-side of Whitby Ave. because the north-side does not have a continuous sidewalk. After you cross the bridge over Cobbs Creek, you will see a gate on the north-side of the street. Carefully cross the street to the gate.
