Vernon is a much loved 8-acre park in central Germantown. It is home to the Black Writer's Museum and Center in the Park. The Friends Group hosts many events annually, including children's programming each summer and a flea market every fall. Vernon Park can be reached by the H, XH and 23 bus routes. Join the Parks & Rec Stewardship Team to help care for Vernon Park's rain garden. The rain garden was built in 2011 and was one of the first rain gardens installed in Philadelphia as a part of the Green City Clean Waters initiative.
