Fall Service Day 2015!

Posted in Blog Posts, News

The fourth annual LOVE Your Park Fall Service Day will happen at neighborhood parks across Philadelphia on Saturday, November 14, 2015!

The Fall Service Day is a great opportunity for neighbors, park lovers, organizations, and companies to spend a day cleaning, greening, and celebrating Philadelphia’s world-renowned park system. The LOVE Your Park program is wonderful partnership among the Fairmount Park ConservancyPhiladelphia Parks & Recreation, our network of dedicated Park Friends Groups, and our generous sponsors.

In mid-October, we’ll open registration registration for volunteers who would like to participate in the Fall Service Day. You can sign up as an individual or a group, and you can choose a park to support based on location and/or activity. Some parks, for example, will be planting trees, while others will be cleaning up litter and collecting leaves for compost. Stay tuned for more information!

This year, our signature site will be at Mifflin Square Park in South Philadelphia. Along with volunteers from our sponsors, we’ll work with the Friends of Mifflin Square to clean up trash and leaves, plant trees and daffodil bulbs, and paint benches. We’ll also host a brief speaking program at noon, which will feature several VIPs! Stay tuned for details and a list of speakers. (Please note that our signature site event is only open to volunteers from our sponsors and the Friends of Mifflin Square.)

If you are part of a Park Friends Group and would like to register your park to participate (or just to get trees!), you can do so here.
