Registration is open!
We are excited to announce that volunteer registration is now open for the 5th annual LOVE Your Park Fall Service Day on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Along with our citywide network of Park Friends Groups, we are issuing a call for 2,000 volunteers to help clean, green, and celebrate Philadelphia’s parks!
LOVE Your Park is one of the largest grassroots volunteer efforts in Philadelphia. Over 85 Park Friends Groups – small groups of committed neighbors who help to maintain their neighborhood parks – will participate in the Fall Service Day, and we need your help to plant trees, collect leaves for compost, clean up trash and litter, prepare our public green spaces for winter, and more!
A complete list of participating parks, including details on timing, location, and projects, is available at here. Volunteers are encouraged to register to participate here or by calling the Parks & Recreation Stewardship Office at (215) 683-3689. Families, kids, and large groups welcome!
We are also excited to announce a special LOVE Your Park event in collaboration with Young Involved Philly for their annual State of Young Philly event. We are inviting young Philadelphians who are interested in getting involved with Philly’s parks to join us for a special service day and networking event on November 12. After a morning service project at Malcolm X Memorial Park in West Philly, we will host a press conference with city officials – including Mayor Kenney and West Philly Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell! – on the importance of parks and public service, and then head to Dock Street Brewery to (refuel on pizza!) and share info on how to become a volunteer and advocate for Philadelphia’s parks.
